Safeguarding the Next Generation of Artistic Talent in Medford

the leader of a youth arts program is interviewed at a high school

Governments, at their best, are foundational tools for making sure every young person in our community is well fed, listened to and given a chance to grow into their most realized self.

But they are far from the only tool -- our social safety net is forged from thousands of community impact organizations all working their butts off to safeguard the future.

I'm proud to have produced a series of videos in support of the Justice Reinvestment Equity Program (JREP), working in collaboration with the wonderful Northwest Health Foundation.

Life Art in Medford is one of the organizations that has benefitted from this $10 million state-funded program. They're a non-profit arts org that helps, guides, and supports at-risk youth in Southern Oregon. Their mission is to empower young Latino people with compassion, honesty, and respect.

JREP supports culturally specific orgs and responsive services in communities most harmed and least helped by Oregon’s criminal legal system.

We will look back on this era as a time when, despite the darkness and destruction, we built lasting community relationships, and a path for the next generation of leaders.
